I started out acting at the LOST Youth theatre and later the Questors Theatre, where I played the title role in Edward Bond’s Lear. Later I wrote several short stories as part of my degree at Manchester University, and that’s where I started directing.
After graduating from Manchester I took the Directing Diploma at ARTTS International, where I was trained as a director by the late John Sichel, and other top class actors and directors such as Toby Swift, Paul Laidlaw, Jimmy Thompson and Geoff Bicker.
Within a year of leaving ARTTS I did some assistant director work and was cast in my first role in a feature film, playing the poltergeist expert Smart in Genevieve Joliffe’s chiller An Urban Ghost Story. While developing my writing and directing by making short films, I got parts in French and Saunders, Spaced and The Bill, amongst others.
In 2007 I met my future wife and creative partner Zuzana Jochman at a Raindance Screenwriting Course. We joined forces shortly afterwards, forming company Caesar Pictures and making numerous short films and videos, as well as developing our slate of feature film scripts.
And while all this was happening I’ve been creating musical comedy with Andrew Irvine, first with the four piece group No Cause for a Llama, and more recently as duo Irvine and von Schlippe.
It has been, and continues to be, a hugely exciting experience, and we hope you’ll join us at this stage of our journey.
